The Racer on Rails Dyno will be available for use by the public at our normal rates on a first come, first serve basis. The Dyno will be open and available starting at 10 am on Sunday 4/21.
Import Face-Off (IFO) originated in 2001 and is the largest, continually running national Import show and race series in the U.S. (40+ events from coast to coast annually). Our 500th event was in March, 2021! The series pays out $300,000+ in cash and trophies a year ($4 million+ since IFO’s origin). Much more than just a race and show, IFO is a lifestyle event that follows current market trends. All together, series activities include: meet, car/truck/bike show, 1/4 mile drag racing, stereo crank it up contest, model expo, burnout contest, DJs, drifting, low car limbo, 2 step competition, and vendors. Some things to note if you plan to run your car with us on Sunday:
- Safety Requirements
- Before hitting the dyno, vehicle owners must adhere to safety guidelines:
- Vehicle Condition: The car must be in good working order. No leaks or major issues.
- Ground Clearance: Expect racecar-like ground clearance, but reasonable for dyno use. ‘Stanced’ or severely lowered cars will not be accepted unless the ride height is adjusted to easily mount on the dyno. Racer on Rails reserves the right to decline service to any vehicle that they deem as being unsafe or a risk to people or equipment.
- Tire Contact Patch: Maintain at least an 80% contact patch for accurate results and safe operation of the dynamometer. DOT Approved Tires must be equipped on the car. They must be within appropriate age ranges for motorsport use. The RoR staff will set the tires to 35 psi prior to running the car.
- Liability Release: Owners must sign a liability release form, freeing Racer on Rails from any dyno-related failures. Waiver can be downloaded here: Liability Release.pdf
- Tech Form: Fill out and sign the tech form before dyno operation. Tech form can be downloaded here: Dyno Precheck.pdf
- The vehicle will be run with the hood open to be consistent with NASA governing body standards for Dyno Operation. While this isn’t required, it establishes a consistent methodology and control of variables so that results are comparable across different cars that run on this dyno and as close to as possible with who dyno readings are conducted for compliance in road racing.
- Spectators will not be allowed within the Dyno bay, but can watch from outside the bay as long as they’re equipped with proper hearing and eye protection. Protection is limited in availability and will be provided to participants only.
